How Long Should I Wait To Wash My Vehicle After Krown Has Been Applied?
Have you considered having your car rust-proofed? At LINE-X and Krown of South Central Pennsylvania we hope that you have, since you are reading this. Rust proofing is a great way to protect your vehicle from rust and to help build resale value for it. One of the common questions that we are asked when we apply Krown to a vehicle is how long they should wait until they wash their vehicle. So, let’s answer that for you.
Why Should You Wash Your Car?
You should wash your vehicle. It obviously keeps it clean and it also removes materials like road salt and brine from your vehicle, which can help protect your vehicle from rust and corrosion. Hmmm, Krown and regular car washing, that sounds like a winning combination there! Anyway, regular car washing can also help to protect the paint on your vehicle, which will also help to protect against rust. Don’t forget to wax as well for even more protection.
So How Long Should I Wait?
When your car is treated with Krown it is washed afterwards. This removes excess product from the windows and painted surfaces where Krown will not be effective. Despite this Krown may drip for up to 48 hours as excessive product falls off.
Krown cannot be removed from metal by soap and water, so considering most people wash their vehicle every two weeks they will be able to maintain that schedule since the vehicle is washed when Krown is applied. Most people wait at least one week to wash the underside of the vehicle after a vehicle has received Krown so the product can harden.
When you do decide to clean your vehicle it is best to avoid cleaning the underside of your car with hot water, degreasers or high pressure washes. This can accelerate the wear of the product and reduce its effectiveness. It is a good idea to clean the underside of your vehicle at least twice a year and if you do, consider using Krown’s Salt Eliminator, which will work in conjunction with a regular Krown coating and will remove salt effectively.
