How Does LINE-X Stack Up Against The Competition?
Visit the website of any company that does spray-on bedliners for trucks and they will probably say that theirs is the best, LINE-X included. If you are in the market for a bedliner for your vehicle, whether it is new or you are upgrading from a drop-in or carpet then a spray-on bedliner will give you the biggest bang for your buck. But which one is right for you? Since you are here reading our blog at LINE-X of South Central Pennsylvania you are considering LINE-X. We think our product is the best and we want to take a fair look at how LINE-X stacks up against the competition.
To do this we did a simple Google search. We avoided any corporate sites (as their product would be found to be far superior but then of course we are a bit biased too) but instead focused on more blog style or magazine style sites that offer comparisons (here’s one). What was found was pretty consistent throughout all of the reviews on the first page of Google. There are many similarities between the different products but there are some differences as well. Not all spray-on bedliners are created equal.
Similarities for all
With a spray-on bedliner the one thing that is key is who is doing the job. Not everyone doing the job is as skilled or diligent and sometimes the job either is incomplete, sloppy or done poorly. This leads to obvious aesthetic issues but also to an increased chance of damage to the bedliner. This is an issue that knows no corporate bounds, there are poor installation jobs done by LINE-X and everyone else but with the warranty any damage can be repaired by an authorized LINE-X dealer. A lifetime warranty is included with seemingly every spray-on bedliner.
UV issues also know no corporate bounds. Over time nature will win and no bedliner will be able to stand up to the sun’s radiation. LINE-X does offer an upgrade for UV protection but that does not come standard.
Where LINE-X is in line with the competition
For the most part the spray-on process is very similar across the board. A hot and high-pressure system is used to spray a chemical at about 130-210 degrees. The chemical composition and temperature varies from company to company. This can affect the strength of the liner and how well it stands up to the work it needs to perform.
Price-wise LINE-X is about in average. A spray-on bedliner runs from between $400 and $900 and on average LINE-X is about $500.
Where LINE-X falls short
There are typically two major complaints when it comes to LINE-X and they both center on the hardness of the end-product. The hardness can cause damage to cargo as it moves around in the bed. It can also be very hard on the knees if you have to kneel on it. Of course there are benefits to this as it makes a LINE-X bedliner very hard to damage.
Where LINE-X excels
As mentioned above, LINE-X is hard and it is very difficult to damage it. Being tougher to damage means it is able to withstand everything that you need it to do and you will not need to bring it into the shop to be repaired. Don’t get us wrong, it can be damaged but it is not easy to do. You have probably seen the videos online. If you haven’t have a look.
The special polyurethane also contours to the original bed making it much more aesthetically pleasing while retaining the look of the bed and it dries quick, within about 5 seconds. The entire process takes at most about 4 hours. After the bed is sprayed it will be completely ready to go within 24 hours of spraying. If damage occurs any LINE-X franchisee will be able to not only repair the damage (at probably no cost to the customer) but they will also handle the reporting and claim.
When it comes to strength and durability LINE-X is second to none. We spray it at only ⅛ of an inch so it adds very little weight to the vehicle as well. LINE-X franchisees are visited frequently by corporate to ensure the high quality is maintained and the stores are clean. We welcome anyone to stop by our Vogelsong Road location to check us out and to see our work. We believe that you will find that our product is the best, but shop around and see.
