A Premium Product

The LINE-X coating comprises premium materials and safe chemicals that product development senior vice president Terry Pay describes as a “coating system based on a two-component spray elastomer patented by LINE-X.” 

The result is a substance that is not plastic, paint, or rubber. Creating the coating starts with the A and B properties, isocyanate, known as a hardener (these are kept in yellow drums), followed by resin (made up of 12 components) and polyurea inside white barrels.

Unlike most bed-lining products, LINE-X coatings contain no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in their chemical makeup. It uses solids rather than solvents so that the substance instantaneously reacts when sprayed. 

It becomes a solid matter only after four seconds of being sprayed, which is something that’s isn’t possible to duplicate using DIY coating products. It is because of this quick reaction that LINE-X is a cut above the rest.

Going Above and Beyond

Prep work is at the forefront of every LINE-X project. We provide decontaminating service before we coat your vehicle. Our staff begins by wiping down the areas that need to be treated with denatured alcohol.

Once our technicians have thoroughly inspected the work done, we go on to patching any holes while isolating the surfaces that will be treated with LINE-X using wired tape. This step is done to confirm the straight lines that run along the bed rails. We also use 3M masking film, masking tape, and heavy blocking paper.

In the final step, we sand down the tailgate and bed to remove any imperfections using medium-grit paper and dual action sanders. Then we perform one last blowout using compressed air and wipe down the whole bed with Bonderite pretreatment wipes and our proprietary acetone.

Expertly Executed Coatings

A process called “impingement mixing” is executed by the Graco Reactor E-XP2. The A and B components are heated up to approximately 165°F. These are then delivered to the tip of a Fusion Air-Purge gun, where they collide with 2,100 psi. As a result of this reaction, the coating blasted into your vehicle’s bed is both strong and durable.

Apart from hard-working machinery, we also have a hard-working staff who are experts in what they do. Using side-to-side sweeps, they can also accurately count the number of passes they’ve taken in an area, which leads to the accuracy of the application. Right after this process, we use another machine to provide UV protection to your premium coating.

A Bold and Striking Finish

Our staff then finishes the job by removing all masking materials and reinstalling the tailgate. Then, they give your vehicle one last thorough inspection. 

We typically perform a digital thickness gauge during this stage to ensure that every LINE-X treatment is 1/8 inch thick. While black is the standard color we use for our coat, many of our branches can create custom hues and blend body-color for various applications, as shown in Las Vegas at the SEMA show.
