The History of LINE-X Spray-On Truck Bedliners

Saskatoon, 1993: On a day seemingly like any other, hidden somewhere inside Saskatchewan’s largest city, the very first LINE-X  branded location opened its doors. This was a few short years after the first spray elastomeric coating was developed, which allows a material to regain its shape after bearing heavy loads. This innovation was the spark that lit up the LINE-X brand, and started the story of their success. 

Not long after the birth of LINE-X, the first U.S. store opened in Pelham, Alabama. Their success was immediate, and shortly after the National Franchise Program began in 1999, paving the way for the over 500 worldwide locations that proudly display the LINE-X logo today. 

Innovation and expansion

Not content to rest on their laurels, LINE-X used the advantages they had gained from their large network of franchisees to start looking beyond the automotive industry. Focusing on making their products tougher and more effective, they eventually found purchase in a variety of fields, including the agricultural, residential, and industrial industries. 

These innovations culminated in 2002, when LINE-X was awarded a Pentagon contract for blast mitigation. LINE-X-developed products being used to stop the fragmentation of building walls was a significant milestone for LINE-X, and a point of pride for everyone involved with the company. Since then, our impact resistant coatings have found their way onto a number of structures and vehicles, including bridge supports and even submarines! 

LINE-X Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond

In our 30th year of operation, LINE-X still isn’t afraid to keep one eye peeled towards the future, while keeping the other finely tuned on the hard work and decisions that got us to where we are today. The last decade has provided us with opportunities to expand while maintaining our position atop the protective coatings industry. 2014 witnessed the birth of Truck Gear by LINE-X, a line of accessories only available at LINE-X franchise stores.
