Floor Liners VS. Floor Mats for Your Truck: What’s the Difference?
Not all car owners are familiar with the Line-X accessories that can be added to their vehicles. For the most part, drivers out there are pretty tomato-tomato about the automotive accessories that they use.
While there are some products that can be used interchangeably, however, there are others that perform slightly different functions. A prime example of this would be the confusion between floor liners and floor mats. Aren’t those the same thing, you may be wondering? Not exactly. Here’s why.
Floor Liners VS. Floor Mats for Your Truck
Yes, these products are relatively similar, but each accessory is slightly different from the other.
Floor liners are designed with raised lips, ridges, and patterns. They’re known to provide the most protection from dirt and damage to the truck’s flooring. The majority of liners in the market are specially designed to fit the interior of a vehicle.
Floor mats, on the other hand, are your standard flat coverings. While they still provide some form of protection against dirt and spill, their general function is to simply protect the vehicle’s interior. For the most part, floor mats are also less expensive than liners.
Choosing Floor Liners Over Mats
We already know that floor liners are custom designed to fit a specific type and model of a vehicle. They’re crafted to precisely fit the shape of an automobile’s floor space, unlike the standard mat. Line-X floor liners are made of rubberized plastic which not only provides overall comfort but also drastically eliminates any deformation brought about by extreme changes in the temperature.
In some instances, liners take the place of a vehicle’s carpeting and are directly installed on top of the vehicle’s metal structure. Rather than buying a universal liner (trust us, it’s not a good fit or feel for under your feet), opt for one that is made to custom fit your vehicle.
Everything in our lineup from our much-talked-about Spray-in Bedliner to our floor liners is all made in the USA. Each item is precision-engineered to give our customers nothing but a top-performing accessory. Our liners have deep grooves and channel patterns that send dirt, mud, and even snow away from the driver’s feet. This keeps shoes and pant legs cleaner, not to mention, it puts an end to puddles that build up and slosh around while you drive.
Line-X Floor Liner Installation is a Breeze
Truth be told, a floor liner installation is pretty standard and does not require the services of an installer. New car owners should, however:
- Begin by removing existing floor mats or liners.
- Before setting the new Line-X floor liner down, make sure to remove all care stickers and safety sticker labels. This is to ensure that the liner is flush against your flooring and vehicle interior. The stickers can be attached to the owner’s manual for future reference.
- Take out a trusty vacuum to suck up any dirt or debris that may be littering the floor.
- Identify the orientation of the floor liner.
- Test to ensure that no part of the floor liner is in the way of doors, brakes, gas, or clutch pedals. Refrain from using a floor liner that does not sit flush on your flooring interior as this could be hazardous.
Just like our Bedliner series, our Line-X floor liners are engineered to include amazing features. Raised nubs at the bottom of the liners ensure that they stay in place.
