How Does A LINE-X Bedliner Drain?
Most of us here in South Central Pennsylvania would like it to always be sunny and 80 degrees but as you know it doesn’t work that way. We see the full spectrum of weather here from sun to rain to snow and everything in between. That means that your vehicle will be exposed to the elements and you will want to protect it. For pickup truck owners that means having a bedliner installed from LINE-X of South Central Pennsylvania and we have been over many of the benefits of it when compared to our competitors. But there is another common question that we field and that is how does a LINE-X bedliner drain?
Rain Is A Certainty
Rain and snow is certainly not uncommon here in Central Pennsylvania. Just pull up the 10-day forecast and you will probably see it one day in the near future, if precipitation is not falling from the sky right now. You know that this moisture is the enemy of the metal in your truck but you also know that your LINE-X bedliner is protecting your truck from that.
Your truck’s bed is intended to get wet, but it also is intended to be able to drain quickly. Drainage holes are built into your truck’s bed so that when its wet outside your truck’s bed can drain, lest water pool and begin the rusting process.
Here in York County we get about 42 inches of rain per year which is higher than the national average. We also get 23 inches of snow per year, which is slightly below the national average and nowhere what we received during this past winter. In all we see precipitation of some sort 121 days out of the year, or about one out of every three days. We may not get the rain every year that some places in Hawaii or the Pacific Northwest get but it is pretty wet here.
Your Truck Is Meant To Get Wet
But you don’t want water to pool in your bed either where it has the potential to cause damage to anything in the bed as well. That is why trucks have those drainage holes built into the bed but drop-in bedliners cover up those holes meaning water in the bed cannot drain (easily anyway) and it is also possible for water to get under the bedliner and start the rusting process.
A LINE-X spray-on bedliner will keep your truck’s drainage holes open so that they can be used as intended. That means no pooling water in your bed and no chunks of ice in the winter time. That also means less time having to clean out and dry the bed so it can be used for what it is intended for.
Very Little Downside
Sure there are downsides to that. You won’t be able to easily have a pool in the back of your truck for your kids but then kiddie pools are not expensive. You also won’t be able to have a giant tub of ice for that mega-huge party or event, but then if you want to keep your beverages cold why not check out the Expedition Cooler from LINE-X?
We know that your truck is designed to get wet. Unless you live in the southwest you have to deal with rain and other forms of precipitation at one time or another. It is something that we all have come to expect and we deal with it. But your truck needs to be able to drain when it does rain and for some truck owners it is easy to overlook this. That is something that many drop-in bedliner owners come to rue and that is why a spray-on bedliner like LINE-X is what consumers prefer.
If you are considering a drop-in bedliner ask yourself how much time you want to spend drying out your bed when you need to use it? If you do decide to get a drop-in bedliner we hope that at that point you realize the benefits of LINE-X and give us a call to get a LINE-X bedliner installed.
