Is Spring The Best Time To Protect Your Car With Krown?
Most people get a coating of Krown Rust Proofing done to help get their car through the winter and deal with the road salt and brine that is put down to help melt ice. When the snow melts away finally and the trees begin to bloom rust proofing a vehicle is usually the last thing on people’s minds but is spring time is actually the best time to get a Krown coating applied or to have it reapplied.
Why Is Spring The Best Time?
Spring is the best time of the year to your car’s underside rust proofed because of the weather. Springtime brings temperature spikes. We’ve seen it here in Central Pennsylvania where there can be a 40-50 degree difference from just one day to another. Springtime temperatures can still go below freezing at night while days can be almost summer-like.
Then there is the moisture. April is known for its showers in general but just like 2018 it has been a wet spring here in Central Pennsylvania, in fact even wetter. That means that there can be a lot of moisture and humidity in the air and in the ground. That moisture can be released into the underside of your vehicle getting into every little nook and cranny and there may even be a little bit of that road salt that comes along with it before it has been completely washed away.
Remember, moisture and steel don’t mix well. It does not take long for the rust process to begin and once it does, it cannot be stopped. A protective coating is the best and most efficient way to prevent rust from even beginning.
But Won’t A Spring Application Be Worn Away By Winter?
One of the great advantages of Krown is that it only needs to be applied once per year. It is sprayed on so it can be done quickly and the formula is very thin so it can reach those hard to get to places that only moisture droplets seem to be able to reach. Krown is also able to self heal as it is always able to maintain a coating even as it begins to wear off. Since Krown is able to do that, a coating done in the spring will not be worn away when winter rolls around.
Since Krown is intended to last for an entire year, there is really no bad time of year to have it applied but for many vehicles as the combination of the end of winter, the constant freeze/thaw cycle early in spring and the wet months of April and May make for a good time to have a Krown application applied or reapplied at Krown of South Central Pennsylvania.
If you are considering a Krown undercoating, now is as good of a time as any to come in to Krown of South Central Pennsylvania and have it applied. Don’t wait, because spring will turn to summer, summer to fall and fall will turn to winter and by then you will be wishing that you had done it sooner!
