Non-Krown Ways To (Help) Prevent Rust
At Krown of South Central Pennsylvania we know that there is nothing better than Krown when it comes to protecting the underside of your vehicle from rust and corrosion. We hope that anyone who has had a Krown undercoating applied agrees with that and we know that you do since you keep coming back year after year. But for everyone who does not want to have a Krown undercoating applied, is there a way to avoid rust on the underside of your vehicle?
There are a few things that you can practice to help minimize rust on the underside of your vehicle but in the end there is nothing that you can do to avoid rust or corrosion. So, if Krown isn’t for you, what will you need to do to keep your vehicle in good condition?
When You Are Driving
You got your vehicle for a reason and that is to drive it. The best way to avoid rust on your vehicle is to not drive it and keep it stored in a dry environment. Kind of defeats the purpose now doesn’t it?
Should you decide to hit the open road you will need to be extremely careful. Extremely. Those little stones and other debris on the road will chip away at the metal and over time rust will move in. Driving on a wet day will be out of the question, so considering how many rainy days we have had this year in South Central Pennsylvania you won’t be driving your vehicle much.
You will also want to avoid any muddy or dirt-covered areas. As you drive over this it sprays the underside of your vehicle and this can trap moisture not only allowing rust to happen but also covering it up. If you do drive over one of these areas you will need to wash your car after every single drive for optimal protection.
Parking Your Vehicle
Not all parking spaces are created equally. Concrete or asphalt will be the only places you will be able to park. While that may cover most of your parking areas like when you go shopping or going to an event you might on occasion have to park on the grass or dirt.
These surfaces retain more moisture than asphalt or concrete and that moisture will make its way up and into the underside of your vehicle. You will definitely not want to leave your vehicle parked there overnight as the moisture that is present in the early morning in the morning dew evaporates.
So, where do you park your vehicle regularly? If you don’t have a driveway or a garage you might want to consider investing in one. The cost of that will be less than the cost of the damage caused by rust over the life of not only your current vehicle or vehicles but the ones that you will purchase in the future. And that is not the end of it, you will need to keep your driveway well maintained as cracks can let moisture through.
Or You Could Have Your Vehicle Krown’d
You bought your vehicle so you can drive it right? You’re not Jay Leno who has a massive garage to store your vehicles. At least we don’t think you are and if you are you should let us come over and check it out. Anyway, you need your vehicle to go to work and to get the basic necessities of life. Keeping rust off of that vehicle is not easy and driving it in a way that will do it is almost impossible.
That leaves you two options: either only drive your vehicle in perfect conditions and extremely cautiously at that or protect your vehicle with a rust-protection undercoating from Krown. If you need to take your vehicle out, protect it with Krown! A Krown application is much less expensive than building a garage or having an asphalt driveway installed and maintained and then when you go over to your friend’s house for a party or to a tailgate and have to park on the grass you won’t have to think twice about it. You can use your vehicle as you need it and get the most out of it.
