Truck prepped for LINE-X
Overspray
If you are reading this you might be looking into getting a bedliner for your truck. There are a lot of different options to choose from and we are glad that you are at least considering LINE-X. We hope that this will be the last place that you look before making the call and we hope that we will see you soon. Chances are you have done your due diligence and have scoured the Internet to check out which one is best. If you have done this you have probably seen something about overspray from LINE-X.
Overspray Can Happen
Truck forums on the Internet are filled with stories about customers having their trucks LINE-X’ed and finding overspray after taking the vehicle home. Some are worse than others but the primary question is what is done if overspray happens.
Overspray is ugly. It can be found on windows, bumpers or any part of the truck. It can happen with any spray-on bedliner, it is not unique to LINE-X. In most cases the dealer catches any overspray before the vehicle is returned to the customer but on occasion that does not happen, hence the customer’s displeasure.
Home Remedies Or Let The Dealer Fix It?
There are all kinds of home remedies that are proposed on these forums. For some the overspray is minimal and they can get it off with a fingernail, saving the time of going back to the dealer to have them fix it. Others find that a clay bar works fine to get it off. An acetone can be used to remove LINE-X from any surface that has a good paint job and clear coat on it. But do you know what the best thing to do is? Bring it back to the LINE-X dealer, like LINE-X of South Central Pennsylvania and let them handle it.
At LINE-X of South Central Pennsylvania we strive to return the vehicle to our customers in good condition and part of that is making sure that there is no overspray. We have a process to prevent overspray from happening starting with wrapping up anything that should have no LINE-X on it. Upon completion of spraying, an inspection of the vehicle is performed to make sure that no overspray is found and if it is found the vehicle will not be leaving our shop until it is removed. Removing LINE-X overspray is much easier if it is caught earlier and that is what we try to do. If it is left on, it can become as hard as concrete and very difficult to remove. Acetone is used to remove any overspray and as long as a vehicle has a good paint job and clear coat removing it at this point is not difficult.
If you want to see how a truck is prepped for LINE-X and how it is sprayed check out the video on this page. A lot of prep time goes into the process to prevent overspray.
Humans are of course not perfect. A piece of tape can come off from the truck allowing overspray to happen and sometimes not every instance will be caught, though we try to get everything. At LINE-X of South Central Pennsylvania we work hard to be the best at what we do and having satisfied customers is a big part of that. If something is wrong, we will work hard to fix it and make it right but we hope that by doing the work right the first time that will never be necessary.
