Why Does Krown Need To Be Applied Every Year?
We are off to a cold start to our winter here in South Central Pennsylvania. Snow and freezing temperatures were already in the books before Thanksgiving giving us a glimpse of what nature can do. During the winter your vehicle can take a lot of punishment from driving on snow and ice to being out in the cold. Most people forget about the underside of the vehicle and the corrosive chemicals that are put down on the roads to help prevent ice or to melt snow. That is why we recommend that a Krown undercoating be applied every year.
Corrosive Chemicals On The Road
When the weather gets bad in the winter it is common here in South Central Pennsylvania for the roads to be pretreated with a salt brine to help prevent ice from forming. This salt brine is corrosive and can eat away at the steel on the underside of your vehicle. This method is more economic and more effective than road salt which is why its use continues despite the danger to vehicles.
Salt brine is basically a mixture of water, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and salt, basically creating salt water. Think about that for a moment. The most corrosive places when it comes to metal is always by the ocean. Why? Salt water is a better conductor so electrolysis accelerates causing rust much quicker.
What Does Krown Do?
Krown is a unique formula that is designed to protect the underside of your vehicle and its electronics. It is able to penetrate into the spaces to deliver more effective protection. It is also able to help lubricate many moving parts of a vehicle like the brake cables and door locks. The coating is also self-healing so when the coating wears off of one place it fills in from around it.
Yes, Krown does wear over the course of a year, which is why it is recommended that you have your vehicle treated every year to assure the best possible protection. It takes the beating from the elements and the corrosive materials placed on the roads so that your vehicle does not have to.
Krown Is Well Worth The Cost
A Krown coating costs around $120 for a car. The cost of the underside of your car rusting away is basically the price of a new car. That also does not include all of the smaller repairs that needed to be done that were simply chalked up to wear and tear that could have been avoided or mitigated. Nature always wins and in this case the underside of your car is fighting against both it and humans. Krown is one of the most cost-effective ways to get the most out of your vehicle.
